Has anyone been Surfing in Siargao or at Cloud 9?« on: October 29 2013 08:10:00 »
I really want to make a surf-trip to a place where I can learn how to surf (I've only surfed once so far and really enjoyed it). I came across a page called liquid body and found really good and affordable offers.
But I wanted to ask if anybody would recommend a place like Cloud 9 to learn how to surf?
Any help would be awesome!

Cloud 9 is a surf spot in the town of General Luna, Siargao Island. Try 1) Paglaom Hostel, Cocoy Davis owns it: https://www.facebook.com/paglaomhostel. He offers his place Php200/day
He can also hook you up with a great mentor named 2) Jing Gurrobat (Siargao local) who owns a hostel too, you can also check him out. Jing owns a boat and will teach and take you to the lesser crowded spots when they're good for a fee if you aren't lodging with him, or if I'm not mistaken the fee's already part of his accomm/trip he offers. I am not sure of his rate.

Other lodging options, that local pizza place 3) Aventino's (I'm referring to the one near the church/town proper, for they have another branch near Cloud 9/Tuason Pt/surfing area) has rooms for Php600/day. You can go drop by and ask for Mikko, or check Aventino's FB: https://www.facebook.com/AventinosPizzaPasta for availability.
I would suggest going by Jing though. You'll learn a lot from him surf-wise as he's won local comps back in the day. He also won the fastest paddle race from Guyam Island to GL and back. He's a funny guy.
