Surfing in phillipines xmas to jan« on: September 03 2014 22:09:00 »
I am headed to phillipines over xmas and would love to hear from anyone who knows where to go over this time of year. I am a beginner to intermediate surfer and am just looking for some nice, uncrowded waves to improve my skills.

Me too. I could really use some advice. Im planning to take a surf trip in the Philippines in Mid December, but I can't figure out were a good spot is at that time. I'm also a beginner/intermediate. I don't want anything too hollow or crazy. I want a long right.
I thought I would go to Siargao, but it seems that it might be blown out from onshore much of December. Can anyone help confirm or deny if Siargao would be ok in December?

...continued from last post.
I guess I've read that December should be pretty peak season for both Baler and West Luzon (correct?), but could anyone tell me how regular the waves are? I don't need big wave, but if it is likely that it will be too small to ride for much of the time I might choose another destination.

Hey guys.. I'm planning to be in the Philippines towards the end of December, for a couple of weeks. Still doing some research but from what I've read so far there are conflicting reports. Surfline says during Winter East facing Pacific gets the occasional break but it mostly switches to the West / South China Sea. When you look at the actual surf forecasts though, the West seems to be flat and East generating decent sized waves.
Will keep checking but likely to be hitting Siargao and Eastern side of Luzon; Baler or so

Go Indonesia. Philippines is flat many times at that time a year . Indo is crowded but there are waves and is much cheaper than philippines (i mean you can life cheap in the phillos as well but in indo you get much more for your cash ). Philippines might be not so crowded but there are probably no waves at all. If you go on holidays 10 weeks plus go Philippines and check it out otherwise not to reccommend
