Beginner info, early August

« on: July 03 2006 13:07:00 »

Hi everyone,

We are visiting the Philippines at the start of August, my daughter wants to learn to surf. Any info on prices and surf quality at that time of year.

Many thanks for any replies.

Dave.

yup la union is cool! take Partas from either cubao or pasay. tell the conductor to drop you of in san juan la union. from there beach is a mere 2-minute walk.

rooms which are good for 2-3 is at 800. rooms good for 4-5 is at 1200.

long boards 350 / hr. (thats right) and short are i think 250 or 300.

luke landrigan is the manager of surf camp and he can hook you up with some instructor. usually costs 400/hr including the board.

then at night take your instructors for a drink or 2 over a surf chat!

Also, pick up a copy of this month's Go! travel magazine. The latest issue is almost entirely about surfing and the surf spots in the philippines. there's contact info for some surf companies inside.

Hi - thinking of coming over end aug/beg Sep - looking ideally for some melllow left's (not a beginner but def not a pro!).  Also how is the weather out there at the mo - heavy rain/winds - any sunshine?  Any probs getting around re: the recent oil spill disaster and volcano movement?  Cheers
