Anyone have details about surfing Davao? When and how big? I have a friend there that I would go visit even sooner if I knew there was wave potential?? What about rental situation...

Davao Surf is "hit or miss" from September to June. August is the best time to surf here because of the monsoon. 3 feet average... more on longboarding. couple the season with storms upnorth then the waves get bigger. rentals? u mean accomodation? no problem... this is a big city... it's a metropolis. board rentals? a little bit of a problem, contact me, or post on this thread. I suggest you go to Davao del Sur or Davao Oriental for good surf... Davao is the best jumpstart for a Mindanao Surf Trip.
Take it easy...

hey, good day!
Terrorists, hmmm... none... or should i say very remote possibilities. davao city is one of the most peaceful cities in the philippines. you can ask the philippine embassy there or our Department of Foreign Affairs. About bandits... hmm.. should i say Petty crimes... they are existent here like in other big cities. Don't worry, just go to the right places and yes... RESPECT THE LOCALS.
About good surf, as wat i've mentioned above, it's hit or miss when it's not Wave season... August is the wave season here. Though, like yesterday and saturday, we had good surf, 4 feet... good for longboarding. Good surf is up here when there's storm or typhoon up north. Take note, Davao city is not affected by typhoon, we are protected by the highest peak in the PI.

I really doubt that a swell from a storm in the northern p.i. would hit Davao. Davao is a gulf, coupled with samal island right in front of it would generate big swell. Unless you have an enormous south swell then maybe. I would like to be proven wrong; lets post some pictures maybe will get an idea if it really exists.
