Beginner Surfing in Calicoan

Hi all,

This will be my first trip to the Phillipines and I would like to learn how to surf while I am there. I will be there between late-December and mid-January mainly in the Bohol and Samar area.

Anyway, just wanting to get some information about surfing  in Calicoan (heard it is beautiful there) as far as
1) where/who to get get lessons from
2) cost of the lessons, board rentals etc..
3) are the waves good for beginners
4) places to stay besides the expensive resorts I've heard about

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Jessie

There is a $110/day (good for 2-3) people at "The Surf Camp" in Calicoan...
you can also rent surfboards there...

RE: Beginner Surfing in Calicoan

Hey Jessie, am actually going to Calicoan next week, can let you know how it goes if you want me to email you direct.  La Union, a 6hour drive north of Manila, was a good spot for beginners the time I was there.  There's a nice beach break near a (cement?) factory up there.

RE: Beginner Surfing in Calicoan

hey,
are there any cheap rates on food and room accomodations around the calicoan surf spot? are there other spots aside from the front of ABCD resort?

RE: Beginner Surfing in Calicoan

you can stay in guiuan for a cheaper food and lodging.30 minutes  away from calicoan.i suggest you bring your food and water while in abcd.no real store.
abcd is the only break on the area, unless you want to travel up north for 1 hour.
good for beginners on small days, dont forget to bring your booties.
