There are sharks, sure, but I've never heard of a shark attacking surfers or even divers (who are much more likely to encounter them, even seeking them out).

If you're worried about sharks, when you're out on the water, never stop paddling. If you sit still in the water, you look like a seaturtle lazing on the surface, but if you keep moving, they know you are not a turtle and will not mistake you as a meal. Don't believe me? O.K. sit still and see what happens.

I thought the more you paddled, the more you look like a seal ! And that´s what they sometimes live of... so wouldn´t that just make it worse ?

Wait......I think I hear the Jaws Theme !!! Fact is, There is danger in almost every Ocean or sea, or sound, or Bay having to do with Sharks. But remember, " Sharks only bite if you touch their private parts !" That was a line from whats his name from 50 first dates

No Joke bloke, surfed 30 years in mainly river mouths, heaps of sharks no attacks. Lived on an isloated island in central Philippines fro 4 years never seen another surfer. Surf the best waves alone except the other day. The first week in sept we a giganitc east swell, surfed spot x twice 600 mtr rights, just on dark a bottle floated past I recognised there was a fish on the end of a heavy line, 3 times I tried to drag it on my board each time I was smased by a wave, then I realised I was 400 mts offshore hangn on to this 12ft tiger shark man did drop the goodies n take off - its true bloke
