la union first week of march 2009« on: January 22 2009 08:01:00 »
anyone interested or with info for going surfing in La Union first week of March? it could be two or three of us, likely to rent a car from Manilla and drive up. Everything is up in the air, where to go, where to hire, any instruction available, where to go out etc. We're up for a Volcano trek too. Coming from London.

Mate, i am an aussie here in manila and there are better places closer to manila, like Zambales that is suitable for all levels of surfing. A lot less crowded also. When you get here give me a bell iff you like.09158229620

If you do wish to go to la union and you need surfboards and or instruction, make sure you go to the right business' up there. There are two that I highly recommend that have proper qualified coaches and you get great service. They are Moro's surf school 09175292627 and Luke Landrigan's at San Juan beach resort.

Hey, I just got back. A car would be cool but not a must. You go North to San Fernando then a short Jeepney to Monaliza point. the point was working good one of the 3 1/2 days I was there, not bad. I heard of good spots up north, which I'm sure are true. What a cool place the Philippines I'm still diggin' it even while back at work.

we're in San Juan, La Union at the moment. Ther'es not much in terms of waves but we're beginners so it's almost ok.
it's really basic and fairly disorganised. However if you'd come to one of the self contained places, then you can sleep, eat, rent the board, walk out onto the beach, in one easy package.
checkout the surf report on www.wetsand.com, this is what people use here.
Tomorrow we're going to head out towards Zambales, crystal Beach and all that. The waves are better on the pacific side but we can't get to anywhere good. Daet is too far and Baler is believed to have been wiped out by successive typhoons...
