Best time of year La Union« on: March 05 2009 21:03:00 »
Looking at heading to La Union in August, how consistent and what size could I expect?

August can be a hit or miss time of year. If you are going to be based in Manila it would be smart just to watch the swell models before committing to any certain destination. If you see a typhoon heading down the NW coast of Luzon then head to La union. If a storm is off to the east of Luzon head to Daet or some other eastern facing spot. I was in La Union following a typhoon a few years back.I got four days straight of rain and wind, palm trees were blowing over etc. Then on my last day there the wind switched and it was offshore and overhead. There are some good pointbreaks in the area. Explore for yourself. If the conditions line up and there are waves then you'll be stoked. If there aren't any waves its flat as a lake and you'll be bummed.
