best place to learn to surf, that is not too crowded

Hi my name is brad and I am heading to the philippines in a few weeks. I have time too hangout so I was thinknig I would like to try and learn how to surf I was thinking to maybe go to La union. Can some one give me some good advise on it or other places. I would prefer to go to some place that is not crowded. I would like some activities to do as I am planning on staying for awhile to learn to surf. Any advise would be really apreciatted thanks.
How hard is it too rent a board or buy used one? thank you Brad

hey brad, I would advise you to go to baler, long stretch of beach breaks a couple o' reefs, surf shops are available for board rentals, cheap and decent lodging not too mention the locals are really friendly.

i agree with jack..baler is better than la union. not crowded, friendly locals, cool place.

all surfers beginner or expert/pro. you are welcome to share our waves here in baler. just respect the nature, dont worry about the locals we know how to spell respect and we practice it to. mabuhay ang ASRAI PAKE! salamat sainyu sa pag promote sa local spot namin ditu.

wag ka ng umepal dito ger kilala kita de ka nman lokals nakiki surf school ka pa jng tolonges ka! Mag surf ka Na LNG o kaya bayaran mo Na LNG yung aso mo sa zambales na personal trainor mo ata yun na turuan ka pa lalong magsurf para humusay ka nmang animal ka, kilala mo yung tinutukoy ko boy!

ano ba ang masama para tulungan ko yun mga friend ko sa zambales na mabigyan ko ng client? binibigyan ko lang ng sukli yun tulong na nagagawa nila sa amin sa pag aasikaso at accomodate sa amin pag andun kme..wala naman masama sa intensyo ko..diba..di ko ma intidehan kung ano ginagagalit mo sa akin...

Hi guys thanks for the info on baler. Is it possible to rent a board or buy used one there. Is there atm machine in Baler. Is it possible to get discount on room or possible rent apartment for a month. Are there things to do other than surf. Sorry about all the questions. I am from canada vancouver island also was wonderring if possible to smoke there.. hhehehehehehe.

yeah man theres a lot of activities and stuff's to do  besides surfing baler is well preserved in nature so pwede kang mag hike/trekking, sight seeing, touring,etc. may night life din dun. ganja is also available just go to the right person (tata pons), but be carefull its not like its legal there or anywhere else. Im sure mag eenjoy ka dito kap maganda pa ang alon at season ngayon. aloha!
