DO NOT STAY at Little Surfmaid« on: April 04 2010 01:04:00 »
If in the area. or going on a surf trip to La Union, Philippines, DO NOT STAY at Little Surf Maid (www.littlesurfmaidresort.com). Our (locked) room was ransacked. No evidence of forced entry. Staff blames a guest who they checked-in with no address, or any identifying forwarding information. Claimed that guest looked suspicious but they didn't do anything. Said that they can't screen every single guest who stays in their (20-room hotel). Terrible experience all around from the time of booking. Not a single apology given or any consideration for the possibility that the theft was done by someone who has access to the rooms. Must be so unfortunate to be a guest and be so conveniently blamed. Meanwhile we're left with our belongings ransacked, all our phones gone (including my beloved iphone with all vacation videos and photos and memories one cannot replace), cameras and cash.

It can happen anywhere. Some guy got stabed six times and thrown off a cliff about an hour drive west of Byron. He survived and two girls and a guy have been charged.
I'm sure a lot of good people are in the Philippines.

la union is a pretty cool place, but yeah a lot of thieves roaming around. better be careful especially when hangin out with the locals coz you'll never know if their eyeing you as a potential victim. it happend to a friend of mine, he got drunk w/ the locals slept in the kubo for two hrs. when he woke up his cellphone's gone as well as his wallet. I felt bad for him coz he was treating them locals with drinks when it happend.

As the only place in the philippines, i leave my laptop, celle phone etc. in the room or in the bar while i go svimming. And newer have i had any problem at little surfmaid. but last year a stupid american owerseas worker in denmark, stole my jacket. it can happen any were. So take better care of tour things, or take a risk. just finished my 3 stay there.
