Portugal in May« on: October 25 2012 00:10:00 »
I'm heading to Portugal with my husband in May on our honeymoon. We have 1 week- what is the best spot to surf in Portugal- i'm looking for the BEST longboard wave, preferably a point break. My husband- he can surf anything, so he'll be fine (hehe)
We are both experienced surfers, saying that i'm still a fan of big, fat long left hand waves....
Also any recomendation's for accommodation?

Hi Anna Lisa,
First of all, congratulations on the engagement.
Now the waves. In Portugal you will find many longboard waves along the coast. Reefbreaks, pointbreak or beachbrake. Peniche, Ericeira, Lisboa, southwest, any of these cities have good spots for longboard. The beach of São Pedro in Lisboa and the beach of Ribeira d'Ilhas in Ericeira are just two examples. Just ask the locals and you'll know where to go. Go from north to south and hit all the waves. Take some extra days and rent a campervan, have a look at http://portugalbyvan.wordpress.com/
Cheers, congrats and have a nice stay in Portugal

I stayed in the Helios Bungalows through surfholidays last year. In Ericeira and on Foz do Lizandro surf beach, would definitely recommend it, very quiet and chilled out and being on the beach was amazing

you have tons of good places to chose in Portugal and some of them was already listed here. I think that if you would like to have the Longest wave in Europe you should go to Figueira da Foz, also you have other great waves in Ericeira for longboarding.
If you want to enjoy good longboard surf on reef break spot and excellent urban life and culture, you should come to Lisbon. We have a great surf camp in center town with good prices and excellent packages that includes the accommodation, the surf guide and everyday transportation from the surf camp to the selected surf spots.
Please if you would be interested just drop us an email, and we will be very glad to introduce you to our surf camp and services.
