Hi. I think Ericeira is the best, a lot of surf schools and board rentals. Quicksilver has a big store there and Ericeira is one of the four World Surfing Reserves, together with Malibu and Santa Cruz, in California, and Manly Beach, in Australia. I also have a house that i can rent, please contact to me if you wish

Hi Jesse, you can rent a board in any major city and surf beach from north to south. Porto, Aveiro, Ericeira, Peniche, Lisboa, Alentejo, Algarve, you'll find boards to rent all over. Welcome to Portugal and have a great vacation.

how long are you in Portugal for? I am not exactly a local (Australian) but have lived in Portugal for 6 mths and have been going back as often as possible while in Spain so I know some good places and a few locals :) I'll be around from late July and all of August if you are keen to join me for a surf trip and some friends and I doing a road trip late August- see my post from earlier today "August surf trip Portugal/Spain/France" in the Portugal forum. we are beginnerish-intermediate surfers. Ericeira and Peniche are great spots!

Not a local either. I'm in Portugal and would also like to surf. Thinking of buying or renting a board and hit the sea. Maybe able to help you with transport. Whereabouts are you and what did you find about waves? I hear at this time of the year best waves are around Ericeira/ Peniche or down South, but haven't verified this. I am a beginner surfer too, so don't need huge challenges, just simple waves...
