i am australian girl coming to surf spain and portugal in april and may this year...friends have been telling me how freezing the water is and now i am worried!!...in spring and summer here in queensland i don't need a wetsuit at all....and at most in winter i just wear a spring suit.....i will buy a steamer before i come but will i be able to stay in the water for more than half an hour without my hands and feet going numb and my teeth chattering??!!! thanks, wussy warm water surfer.

in spain, mediterranean coast, in april or may the water is about 16/17°celcius...brrr!!!! and the air about 15/24°celcius...
in Portugal, ocean coast, water is about 14/16°celcius,and the air about 15/22°C...good luck!

Sorry, that was rude to say that you suffer from the cold,
but im sure youll be ok in a wetsuit there.
Im just used to 10 degrees water so Im jelous of anything warmer.

its not too bad, was there last May and I didnt freeze, just got back from Oz and thought the water was freezing!!! so u will be grand

Well I am an Australian surfer from the Gold Coast in Australia and I now live here near lisbon in portugal. The water is colder than you would be used to and I would recomend a steamer( is what I have been wearing for the last 3 years) but now I am more aclimatised and will be wearning short john this summer.
