Surf-trip in September general advice needed

To any surfers, I am planning a long weekend surf trip to Portugal in September for about 6-8 people. Was thinking of the Estoril/Oeiras area so it easy to get to from Lisbon airport. Does anyone have any general travel advice e.g. places to camp/stay, transport to the area from Lisbon (do we need to hire a car?), surf-hire availability etc. Any advice very welcome. Cheers

In september the best waves around Lisbon, should be a bit further north (Guincho, Praia Grande, Ericeira). If you want to look around for the best wave of the day you need to rent a car, if not you can stay in the Camping near Praia Grande or Ericeira. Usually the waves are little in Estoril in september.

Cheers mate. Although there has been a change of plan and it appears we are now going to Bilbao! Do you know anything about surfing near there?!

Nope, sorry. I live right above Praia Grande. Never went to Bilbao. But I'll consider it. Next surftrip is Morroco.
