hi josh - we're just down the coast from aveiro in figueira da foz.  we have a hostel there - you can email us on the email in this post or google the paintshop hostel.

if you fancied a change from aveiro - otherwise i know there is an H.I hostel in aveiro but they don't have the kitchen or common areas etc - and i think there is a lock out during the day.

maybe see you soon,

If you stay in Aveiro, you can take a bus to get to Praia de Barra or Costa Nova.  There seems to be a few campgrounds near Costa Nova and São Jacinto which are both much much closer to surf.  The Orbitur Camp ground in São Jacinto is nice, but you may want to talk to someone to make sure you can walk to the beach.  I also don't know how easy it is to rent a board around there.  Have a great time.
