Hostels in Lisbon area

Hey guys!
I'm planning on coming to Portugal for the first time in late August. I thought about coming to Lisbon and wonder if there are some cool hostels in that area, so that it would be closer to surfing spots, and not to far from the city. I'd also appreciate any advice for first-time visitors.. Thanks..

RE: Hostels in Lisbon area

Hi!

There is hostel very well, next to lisboa, in oeiras (pousadasdajuventude.com, and you look for catalazete), but in this epoch of the year, regrettably in this zone there are no waves, you would have to go for Sintra (Praia Grande, Praia das Maças) but the hostel of Sintra is closed by reforms! I know that a small lodge should face Praia das Maças, quite economically, if you are interested in, I can obtain you the phone (I believe that it has no web site)

Take care

Marcela

RE: Hostels in Lisbon area

The best area for that time of year is around Guincho, Praia Grande and Macas as that is where the swell hits best.
There are a few places to stay. Praia das Macas has a surf lodge called SURFIBERIA
Guincho has a camp site not too far from the beach.
Good luck and have fun!
