i picked up surfin in australia. last year i went to biarritz for some surfing,but found it was a lot harder there. is surfing in portugal about the same as in france and when is the best and worst time of the year to surf in portugal?

What do you mean surfing is harder there? Conditions change every day. The south of Portugal is good all year, in France you will need a thick wetsuit in winter time.

in portugal in summer you have guincho beach, praia grande, you have Costa da Caparica that have a lot of beaches, peniche, ericeira etc...
in winter you have estoril zone that have a lot of beaches like carcavelos beach, S.Pedro beach etc...

This is North Atlantic man... a bit thougher than those "tropical" seas. Sometimes in summer and somehow rarely in winter you'll find postcard-like conditions
