Hi, normally the are good waves all the year and the hight depends. The best place to surf in Portugal, is all the coast line from north to south, but the best area is Ericeira.
Ericeira is the surf capital, there are points, beachbreaks, everething, and its very near to Lisbon, the airport and other surf spots like in Sintra ( world heritage ) and very good beaches too, the area of Cascais ( when the swell is bigger ), Peniche, Nazaré, Costa da Caparica.
In the south, you can catch some waves or not.
You need to bring a wetsuit, the water temp. is about 16/17/18 Cº

fly to faro. The Algarve gets good waves year round but it's less consistent in the summer. Email me for more info.

Hey Guys, I'm plannijng on taking a surf trip to Portugal around mid-june.
I am an experienced surfer, but I'm travelling with my girlfriend who would like to learn. Any recommendations of a nice location where both of us can have fun surfing?

Portugal have waves in all the coast from north to south but they are smaller in the summer time, specially in south Algarve. Still plenty of good spots with waves from south west coast to north coast (Sagres-Porto).
Always need a wetsuit since the water temperature are around 17º Celsius.
I do surf trips in all the Portuguese coast and you can know more about it at www.ride351.com or email me to firstname.lastname@example.org.
All the best and good waves!
