Tips for surfing trip

« on: March 27 2008 06:03:00 »

My boyfriend is dying to go surfing (sick of rainy London!) and we are planning on heading to Portugal for a week's break. Any recommended spots, accomodation? Are we better off flying into Lisbon or Faro? I don't surf myself, but need to keep him sane, so somewhere that I can also enjoy would be great!
Thanks in advance.

They're both good options. From Faro you should drive west and stay in Lagos or Sagres. The weather is pretty much guaranteed to be good and there are plenty of good beaches. In and around Lisbon you'll certainly have more cultural options if there's no surf but despite what other people on this site might say it does get more crowded up that way. You could even fly to Porto and head north from there but that's another story. Feel free to email for more info. Cheers, Toby.
