October surf in portugal- any advice? we are beginners.

« on: June 21 2008 04:06:00 »

We are a family of 4.  We have surfed in Costa Rica and had an amazing time.  This October we would like to go surfing on a budget.  My boys are 12 years & 9 years old.  We usually go body boarding but would like to go surfing this time.
Can anyone recommend a surf school?  camp site? where to go?

Hi
You should see Ericeira, the surf capital of Portugal and also near from Lisbon, Sintra, Peniche, you could combine surf with an historic visit in the area around.
Hi have a litlle house to rent to, if you want i can send some pictures or give more details about the area or other places to stay.
Cheers
Élio

Hi there,
Take a look at www.santacruzsurfacademy.com.
It is a surf academy situated in a small village called santa cruz,  60 kms far from lisbon and between Ericeira and Peniche.also ggod surf spots. here you will find beautifull beach breakes and not so croudy as Ericeiraor Peniche. it is ideal for your kids. The ambient of our surf house is a familiar one and we can also offer you horse riding and/or golf lessons  If you wish you can also try our typical portuguese food..

Hello Anna!

we are located in a small magic place 5 min from Peniche that calls Praia da Areia Branca.
A lot of our costumers are families and when they came, they come back every year, because we have good conditions, good food, good local enviroment and is not a mass turism place.

Other of our values is the long and fantastic work with children!

Portugal has two climatic zones (1) The northern zone characterized by an average annual precipitation of 991 mm (39 inches) with temperatures influenced by Atlantic air currents and the Spanish Meseta. (2.) The southern zone which has a Mediterranean climate with low annual precipitation and sunny days with weather conditions influenced by the Azorean high pressure systems.
