Old timer wants to learn to surf in August. Where?« on: July 03 2008 13:07:00 »
I'm a 36 yr old guy who wants to learn to surf before it's too late. Where in Portugal could I go and not be completely surrounded by hard-bodied teenagers? I'd like to go for a ten day period, anywhere from August 20th till September 3rd. Any suggestions? I'm going alone and don't really like shared rooms, so any place with one person rooms or a campsite is a plus.
Thanks in advance!

I'd check out Peniche or Ericeira, both great places for surfing. They have real good surf camps there so if you are heading down by yourself it would be a good idea to sign up to one of the camps. They'll give you lessons and also bring you to the paces where the waves are best suited to beginners. Some of the camps also provide accommodation so you could get everything you need

tribo do mar in peniche might be an option. A relaxed place with good consistent waves and diverse people.
