Im planing a surfing trip to Portugal in august.
The plan is to travel around to diffrent spots which has the best waves for the day. Now im wondering if its neacesery to ha a 4 wheel drive to get to the beaches or kan you manage with the cheapest car carrentals have, like a ford fiesta.

We have got a Guest House in ERICEIRA - MECA OF SURF in Europe and we are palced 500 meters from Ribeira dìlhas (WCT contests and so on) and our guest house it is in front of a good surf spot too.
We have to offer: accommodations, weekly packages, rental of surfboards, wetsuits, bicycles and CAR RENTAL for very good prices; you do not need to have a w wheel drive to go around here, it is enough a normal car.

A 4wheel drive could be handy, but not necessary. Many of the beaches, although down dirt tracks, can be reached by a normal car. try www.aljezurholiday.com for accomodation in west algarve. Have a good trip!
