Surfing in Peniche Area in September« on: August 01 2009 00:08:00 »
I'm planning a trip to portugal in september/oktober and I'm wondering how peniche, maybe ferrel, would be for a group of beginners. I see swell height and wave period is at it lowest in september.. can i still expect good surfing?

Usually surfers like a lot September in Peniche because the summer crowds are gone and the winter swells start to arrive!
If you check peniche surf camp web site, they have a service called Wave of the Day. If you go to the 43th page you will see how the waves were in September 2008!! I was just cheking and they look pretty good!
Peniche Surf Camp also has got a promo for September. Contact them.
Good waves and good vibes

Sept is likely to be small. The later in the year the better the swell and theres virtually only a few Germans and the local crew (who surf mainly Lagido) around. Best thing about Peniche is theres always somewhere offshore as it's a peninsular, and if its mackin out you'll still find something to suit your level.
Campground between town and Supertubos is perfectually situated. Surfcamp at Lagido sounds good for beginners but it'll cost ya.
