In the summer you probably don't catch good waves in the south coast, best option at the summer is around Sintra, Ericeira and Peniche, but you can try and maybe you get lucky in some days.
There are many surf spots in all the south coast between Lisbon and Sagres, just explore, but how i say before in the summer surf is in the coast north of Lisbon.

Hi matt. Algarve it's not that good in the summer, and it's also crowded by a lot of begginer from the 100 schools there. The best spots are santa cruz and ericeira in the summer, but ericeira is a lot more crowded than santa cruz and in santa cruz is always bigger, so you may ensure you catch waves every day. Aloha
