Good all round holiday for surfers and non surfers« on: February 02 2010 05:02:00 »
Looking for a holiday 3rd week in Sept 2010, for 2 surfers and 2 non surfers, would like to know which is the best place for people who have done a bit of surfing, with a good all round area for the wife's to take in the beach and the towns. Would like to be in a part of Portugal that isn't that over run with tourists but has a good vibe and things to do. As there are the 3 main airports what is the traveling time from these to the main areas. would like it to be reasonable priced. Cheers

I think the best option is the airport of Lisbon, and from here you decide were to stay.
Ericeira is the capital of surf in Portugal, its a good vibe area. Its 30 minutes from airport.
Peniche its a good option also, but less things to do ... only surf, and its like 1.20 hours from airport.
At the moment my house its not suitable for 2 couples, but have a look www.casadaadega.blogs.sapo.pt

Why don't suggest your wife to take surfing lessons, while you have your session. Fly to Faro, near Sagres, the weather is still summerlike in september, and you'll have good vibes!
You may have a look next to Carrapateira in a nature setting there is amadosurfcamp.com check it out!

I moved to Peniche a couple of years ago. This place is fantastic: real good waves all year round and gorgeous beaches all over the place There are several things to do for non-surfers, next to going to the beach. You have Óbidos close, a precious medieval village, you could visit the islands of Berlengas (natural reserve) or wander around in Peniche or Caldas da Rainha. Lisbon is only a small hour away, so shopping in Lisbon is also an option. Mail me if you are looking for a place to stay as I know the region well. Thanks, Linda.
