Albufeira Surfing

« on: January 17 2012 15:01:00 »

Hi, a few of my mates are going down to Albufeira (portugal) for a weeks holiday in July. I would like to go surfing but am a bit worried it could be flat/messy as its summer, anyone know about this? If it is we are 18 so cant hire a car to reach the west coast for some swell, does anyone know of any cheap surfaris from albufeira that will hire boards and drive to the best conditions and are they worth while?

Cheers, Mike

Take a train to lagos and contact local surf tours there for a trip to the west coast

Hey, I tried to do the same thing last year. The see is usually pretty flat and if there are waves there is no place to rent a board (at least not in the old part of the city). The only surfaris' I could find were surfaris'  where you will first explore the inlands of Portugal for half a day, and where you'll have surf lessons at the west cost in the afternoon. It was pretty expensive and I didn't do it myself, but from what I heard, people liked it a lot.
