Surfing W. Coast

My girlfriend has just moved to Ft. William for 3 months and I am going there every other weekend to see her. I woud really like to surf while up there and have heard that with an Easterly wind it is possible to surf on Tiree (a ferry journey from Oban - which is about 45 mins from Ft William). Obviously the ferry takes a long time and is expensive, so are there any closer spots to Ft William? We have a car up there.

Many thanks
