Bad winds in South Africa?« on: May 10 2006 04:05:00 »
Can anyone shed some light on when the wind is most likely to be bad for surfing in SA?
I've been told that autumn / early winter is better than the late winter / spring.... but can anyone confirm this.
Are flat onshore days likely throughout summer?

It depends what part of the, huge, country your at. I have experienced the western cape from cape town up to Port Elizabeth and it got windy as we went east, Plett was unbearable for about three days. This was october. The cape area gets the "Doctor" in the summer so that's pretty clear, summer=windy@cape...
But for swell I gather the winter season is better anyway..
