I live in Rota, Spain and the nightlife here is amazing. All the bars and clubs are within walking distance. They even have spanish bars open on the beaches during the summer. So you can party in Rota and then drive an hour down the coastline to El Palmar for some of the best waves in Spain.

Dude, wait till September, August can be pretty flat and if you manage to get good waves, then it will be crowded with tourists learning to surf. If you can only make it in August, then pick a smaller town in the west of France (Mimizan for example) you get a good surf crowd and the ensuing good nights.
Good waves to you!

Your place is San Sebastián. Good waves and good nighlife. Sud-west in France is good also but the nightlife isn´t as good.
