surfing from corralejo« on: March 11 2006 04:03:00 »
Hi, Im hoping to take a trip to Fuertaventura in May with the girlfriend. Thinking about staying in Corrallejo because we want somewhere lively enough. I want to surf, i am a learner. Can anyone tell me if there will be anywhere i can surf nearby? Or is there another lively resort which is closer to a good (learner) wave? Will I need to hire a car or is there surf within walking distance of any resort? Can I hire a board anywhere.

i went to carralejo last year, there are spots around the town within walking distance but they are all reef breaks, so maybe not to good for you. there is a beach break about 30mins drive away.but that has pretty bad sand banks and the waves closed out all day when i was there. i surfed a break called the shooting gallery most days which is reef but pretty nice. hope you find somewhere to suit yours needs.jay.
p.s.theres a good group of guys running asurf school there you can get boards there

My boyfriend and I spent a week surfing around Corralejo in October a couple of years ago. the surf was excellent and very consistent. there are plenty of surf hire places and English run surf schools around but best to hire a car if you want to go exploring, plenty of easy beginner breaks within short driving distance. Have fun!

I went for a weeks holiday to fuerte a couple of months ago. Me and my girlfriend drove around for the first couple of days and looked into most surfschools in the north of the island. We then decide to go with the 7 Island Surf Surf School and we now wished we would have gone with them from day one.
We had the best time, I ended up getting onto my feet which I was very chuffed about and the tuition we got was just brilliant. We got to see several different beaches aswell which was nice (some were well tucked away so we were the only ones on the beach)
Those guys definately knew what they were doing and we will definately go back.
Have a great holiday anyway, I am sure you´ll find something that suits you !
