Surfing in Alicante / Torre Vieja in WINTER

« on: October 07 2005 14:10:00 »

Hi. I'm going to a vacation to Torre Vieja or nearby in winter. We are supposed to be there from December 22 to January 05 (two weeks).

I bought a surfboard in Japan and I was wondering that can you surf at all in Torre Vieja at this time of the year. I've been surfing in other end of Mediterranean (Israel) in summer and I got the impression that there is pretty big waves in Mediterranean in winter.

I'm a beginner and I would be satisfied for wave size (not swell size!) between hips and shoulders (belly or brest might be optimal for me). Is it possible at all to get this size waves near Torre Vieja in christmas / new year time?

Then another question. I have quite light wetsuit (2-3mm). Is it too thin to surf in Torre Vieja at winter or can you manage with it? If it is not satisfactory, can you rent wetsuits from Torre Vieja?

Thank you very much =)
