suggestions for a beginner looking to travel and surf

I am doing a trip in Spain/Portugal from around May 28th to about June 8th.  I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a rough itinerary that would allow me to travel the north/west coasts of the countries, and being able to do some surfing along the way.  I have a good amount of experience on a snowboard and some wakeboarding and wakesurfing, but only a couple attempts at actual surfing.  Would need some beginner waves.  Also, will it be too cold for boardshorts on the north coast in May?  If so, at what point along the coast of portugal does it get warm enough for shorts?  Any help would be appreciated.

RE: suggestions for a beginner looking to travel and surf

Hi

I am from Spain, in my opinion Vasque Country have some good places to go like Zarautz, 20 minutos by car from San Sebastian. Another places in Vasque Country is Sopelana, 30 minutes by metro from Bilbao.

Cantabria, another region in the north, you have a place called Somo, 15 minutes from Santander.

I was in Peniche, Portugal, last summer. I do not little too much the waves. However it is just an opinion.

good luck.
