Summer surf trip- van needed!« on: May 02 2010 14:05:00 »
My boyfriend and I are planning a surf trip this August, flying to Biarritz, driving along the coast of Spain over to Portugal then down to Tarifa and potentially to Morocco for a few days (assuming all goes to plan!)
Thing is we've no mode of transport as of yet... Does anyone know of any good (read CHEAP) companies to rent a van? Or better still has anyone got a van they wont be using for the month of August??
Any help appreciated!

You can hire a van at the airport, you could book online or something. We hired a hertz people carrier for some discovery driving. Its £475 for a 5 seater people carrier or £675 for a 7 seater for 2 weeks. Good luck

No vans are cheap to rent in europe... also no rental would let you take a car to Marocco.
i searched out this option last year. And then looked into buying. No good unless you have a resident in the country to put their name on the car and insurance.
We ended buying a car in england, which was way cheaper than we would have got on the continent. Having the steering column on the otherside is a bit weird… but you get used to it. and it's the easier option than trying to get a car elsewhere. We got a 1998 toyota van for 1200 pounds. Way less than rent of a wicked camper for 3 months.
Seriously buy one and you make most the money back when you sell it at the end!

Hi Els, i read your message and i am glad to tell you that we are starting our own campervar rental company, located in San Sebastian. We have got pick-up service to biarritz airport in case you need.take a look to our website www.surfcampers.com.We are starting so, it is uncomplite, but your travell plan fits on perfect with our company.
about going to morocco personaly i do not think it is the best time right now to go to north africa. we do not rent any campervan to marocco any way, bassically becouse of the insurance and security but if you are very interested you can drive our campervan to tarifa, and i will try to have another one in morocco ready for you, one with the vehicle registration of marocco. Please contact us for further information.
