sri lanka-dec/jan beginner surfer-waves, board, housing?« on: December 12 2016 22:12:00 »
just posted the following & didn't list sri lanka in the title (:
hi, i'm about to arrive in sri lanka in a few days and planning to stay a month. i've been a beginner for many years as i don't go out regularly to improve. hoping to find an area to stay in and get better.
so i'm looking for:
-a quiet area with beginner-ish waves that has less crowds/ tourists -not looking for a party
-board rental (or purchase and sell when i leave)
-inexpensive/mellow place to stay long term that has a kitchen so i can cook and save money
i realize this is a lot to ask for the busy season, but thought i'd give it a try!
thanks SO much in advance for any advice you have to offer!
also, is there something similar to craig's list in sri lanka...online classifieds?

I guess you will love Midigama. It's a small town before Weligama 30 minutes on bus south from Galle.
There's a wave ideal for beginners (when it's not too big) called Lazy Left.
If it's still too much to handle you can go to Weligama or to Mirissa, which is close by.
It's a quite laid back town, with not that many tourists and if you really want to party you need to go to Mirissa.
