Short stay in May - where to go?

Hi there

My husband and I are planning to go to Sri Lanka arriving May 11th and leaving May 16th so it's a short stay. I didn't realise the drive from Arugam Bay is so long from the airport. So just wondering if there are any seasoned surfers of Sri Lanka who can let me know whether you think it'd be alright to go south west I'm thinking Hikkaduwa? Would that be a good place to be based? I'm an advanced surfer my husband more of a beginner-intermediate so would be happy with intermediate type waves. One last thing is board hire any good? Would welcome accommodation suggestions.

RE: Short stay in May - where to go?

I've been watching to see if anyone replies to your post. I will be in Sri Lanka around the same time and I'm also looking for a good location. Preferably away from the tourist masses. Just a quiet, simple place to surf. I'll let you guys know if I stumble upon anything.
Best of luck!

Hi, in May it wilk be raining in Hikkaduwa. You have to look for spots in east Srilanka. South and West - monsoon.
I have not been to East Srilanka so I cannot help you more

Plantation Surf, Asahi on the beach..But I've been twice and Midigama has a good variety of surf and cheap guest homes or higher end hotels.  Lots of breaks and you can rent boards from bubba.   See Chatura from plantation surf and tell him da Hawaiian sent you!!

Good luck its one of my favorite places in da World i've been through so far!!!!
