Buying or renting boards in Sri Lanka« on: December 14 2005 16:12:00 »
I'm heading to Sri Lanka in Late December and was wondering about the situation for renting or buying boards. I'll probably be heading straight down from Hikkadawa from Colombo.
First off, can any one ley me know what is the current price to rent boards for a week is and what is the general condition of the rental boards?
Also, how much would a relatively good second hand board cost. And would it be better to try to buy a board of a local, traveller or from a shop?
Anyway, pretty standard questions but it would be nice to know before I head off!

At the Moment you Pay 1000.- Rupies per Day (10 US)
Better to buy a Board from a Local, like I did in September.
Don't pay more than 200 US for a Board, i pay'd for my Board from a Local 150 US. Without leash...
If you are in Sri Lanka, go to Ahangama, 7th Sky Guesthouse Weligama, and ask Rathna, he can organize for you a Board.
There is a Surf Point directly in Front of the Guesthouse and its a Butiful Places to stay a few Days!
The Food is very good, the 6 Rooms are nice and cheap. And you have your Own Beach for Surfing!
If you are there, ask Rathna, he will organize everything.
He also have Boards for Rent, also my one is still there.....

I will be in south India from Feb1 till late march and I plan to surf and travel in Sri lanka for about 1.5 weeks. I am definitely into meeting up, biking around Sri Lanka, and possibly taking a trip to the Maldives.
