What's the story with visas in Sri Lanka?
My husband and I are heading there in July for 2 months on our way home to NZ - I understand you get an automatic 30 day visa on arrival but what if you want to stay longer? Do you have to go to Colombo to get an extention? any advise would be greatly appreciated! cheers Zoe

Yeah I think you do...i managed to get a longer visa from the sri lankan embassy in Dubai before I left but i don't think it's that easy.  Most people I met had to do the colombo run (which happened very often as every1 kept deciding to stay longer than they'd planned!!) I heard rumours that you could do it in Kandy but Im not sure if thats right and if you're on the east coast or up north I guess there's not really lat big a difference in the extra 3hrs to colombo from kandy anyway!! Good luck, have a qicked holiday!

Just stay in contact with a embassy from srilanka but one out of srilanka and make the deal with them and tell you want to stay longer by sport .they will give you the right phonenumber from a office in colombo.
if you there in the office you play alittle stupid tourist who ask
very neutral how much a visa for another three month will cost have alook into the ey and check out take about 50 dollars let it fall behind the desk where the person is sitting
and ask if you can come back at three a clock for take the visa everything will be good cause the most srilankans are pretty cool .

greetings tom
Ps:have a good spliff with emil from Beruwela ask a tucktuck driver for rastaman emil and the coconutbar.
