I live in Sri Lanka and am a very keen surfer, Arugam Bay is a great place to surf at this time of year. It is safe to go to Arugam Bay but it is a 9 hour journey from the airport so i would recommend hireing a van and driver to take you there. I would recommend looking at the website lankasurftrips.com or else send me an email and we can discuss it further!!!!

Reply to Chaminda. I am very interested in a surf trip to Sri Lanka early next year. I have saved your web site address and may use your services if i do go there. In the meantime, could you please give me some information about the waves on the south west coast of Sri Lanka?

The waves in the south west are from November to April and the east coast is from May to October.
There are 11 points in the south but the main is in Hikkaduwa. And there are 6 points in the East.
If you are coming over it would be good for us to meet and i could help you sort out a surf tour to visit all the points and a few secret ones!
Cheers mate and look forward to your reply
