I have been surfing in Sri Lanka for about 7 years and there are a lot of locals. There are some Sri Lankan surfers and they are ok. There are some western guys living in Sri Lanka too. I don't surf Hikkas, too much of a scene for me. I surf south of Galle. If you want to learn to surf there is a very good coach, French guy and you can get in touch with him through Oystein at Easy Beach www.easybeach.info he has the guys details and he is a great coach. He works the South Coast of Sri Lanka during the season then he works in the Maldies at Pasta Point. This 2008/09 season has sucked but it is perfect for you to lean so good luck. KP
