hei, thinking of doing a surf trip to sri lanka in august, are there good longboarding spots? and how is it to be a girl going there alone...?

hey.. Went to sri lanka for a few months early 2006 and its an awesome place The people are very friendly but some can be a little too friendly towards girls at times so it all depends on what sort of person you are.. just be sensible and dont go certain places on your own at night etc and you'll be fine.

With regards to surfing, its lush, I spent the majority of my time there based in galle but travelled up and down the coast to various spots between hikkaduwa and mirissa. I think weligama is good for long boarding. You can get up to 500m runs on a really good day but if you do go there i suggest staying in mirissa round the corner as its far nicer.

If you're going to head to that sort of area then hikkaduwa or unawatuna are good for partying and meeting people you could travel round with.
