sri lanka or bali

« on: July 27 2009 20:07:00 »

I am a beginner-intermediate surfer.
I want to go on a 2 week surf vacation during the first half of august.
I am now in vietnam and am trying to figure out where the best place for me to go would be.
in terms of good break, uncrowded beach etc. I'm afraid bali will be too crowded.
can anybody recommend me where to go? or another destination in the area? phillipenes etc?
also if anyone would like to join me, I would be glad.

There are so many different spots in Bali though. Bali is cheap, easy to get around and there are lots of other people all willing to share rides and show you where some spots are. I found Bali to not be totally territorial. Kuta, regardless of the crowds is still a pretty good beginning/int break. But there are some good points down more south towards Nusa Dua, Jimbaran Bay etc..although I found those really difficult as a beginner so....Indo also have surf trips you can take that cater to different levels. Eg. Metawi's or apparently off Papua  is good too.
