Hi, I live in srilanka part time and my husband(local) has a surf shop there. The best time is the end Nov-March for the southern part hikkaduwa to Galle, Welligama. Its a little bit crowded always as there r many europeans on Mals but there r some great waves that i dont really want to mention.. if you go u will see many places to stay and a friendly local will hook you up.
THE BEST waves r at Arugam Bay on the east coast May-Sept. and its SUPER crowded, lots of begginners so you can get waves if u r aggressive
Sri Lanka is a great experience! Have fun
