Surfing hikkaduwa november-december

Hi!
Im going to Sri lanka 16 of November and will stay there for almost a month. Ive surfed before here in Sweden but the waves are tiny. Is it possible to surf in hikkaduwa as a beginner(i learn fast)? will there be good surf in this period? is it easy to find surfboards, for rent or for sale?

Im gonna stay there by myself so if anyone like to hook up, surf and have fun, just email me!

Cheers

RE: Surfing hikkaduwa november-december

Lucky you, great place to go.
Don't worry, if you are a beginner, there is one reef spot for the top guys, and another reef less crowed and usually smaller 200 meters up north really good for beginners. Also 200 meters south from main reef, you get a surf break (sand) also really good for learning.
The period should be ok, November I don't really know but December will be fantastic.
Plus you gonna surf with plenty of turtles around you.

About the boards rental, yes you can find many but they are most of the time very old and not really good. Price 7 to 10 USD a day.
For sale, same problem, not many boards, no good price. I would recommend you is to book an NSP hybrid from www.rentasurfboard.com for one week (50 USD), and negociate to keep it after for 40 USD a week.
