Beach accommodation

Hi, myself and my partner are thinking of coming over for christmas 2011 for 3-4 weeks and are looking for somewhere to stay on the beach close to the surf. We both surf, I'm a beginner but we would love to be walking distance with our boards. Somewhere close to some restaurants would also be ideal, and a good christmas atmosphere. I would be very grateful for any suggestions and prices, many thanks

RE: Beach accommodation sri lanka

Sri lanka is awesome! but hikkaduwa isn't a beginners wave and is crowded . you need to go to welligama for its beach break which is incredibly forgiving and beautiful. look at www.thegreenroomssrilanka.com for accomodation. i stayed last christmas and it was the best holiday i have ever had. they are such fun people and the surf instructors are  brilliant and i was turning along the wave within 3 days. i loved it so much im going back to sri lanka next week to meet up with some local surfers and go down to Arugam .  have  a great trip.

RE: Beach accommodation

hi there, i'm planning to go to Sri Lanka with my bf in November and am a bit overwhelmed by the many choices on the internet... where to go, where to surf, where to stay..
TheGreenRooms looks pretty cool, but not sure if i wanna have the surf-camp-feeling.
I'd love to stay in a cabana or something similar, which provides lots of privacy and is quiet, close to a break (we're both intermediate surfers) etc.
Cooking facilities maybe? not necessarily, love the local cuisine and am sure there's plenty places to eat cheap and good.
Any suggestions?
Thanks folks
