wouldnt reccommend takin the board at all really, spent three months there earlier this year and the only thing the board got used for was a replacement lilo!! you might be lucky further up near cambodia, ko tao, ko samui and ko ko phng nga are flat as a pancake!! good luck and enjoy

bring your board if your going to be there that long. When it's 90+ degrees outside and the waters 80+ it doesn't mater how small the waves are, it great to just get wet, and a little exercise feels good between all those late nights. And local airlines don't charge extra to carry boards. All you need is your everyday board with some type of lite board bag. I carry my 6'2" in one of those FCS bags and a backpack and it works perfect, nice and moble.
