Been there, surfed there. It only works under certain conditions, but in Oct./Nov. or April/May it can work well. January 1, to 6, 2009, saw overhead waves and a lineup of 8 surfers and 2 waveskis! Check out www.timmorch.com/Articles/Secret surf.htm

Agree with Tim Morch, don't plan a surf trip to Koh Phayam unless you are going in oct-nov or april-may. Was there from january to late march 2010 and had maybe a dozen days where there were waves, one day overhead, the rest were beginner longboard type days.

No surf there..... once or twice a year it gets swell.... not worth a trip if you are going for surfing

I agree with the others, no surf there..... Best to go surfing in Bali

If you are a big wave surfer who likes the lineups of Bali, then that is definitely your place. If you prefer smaller but very rideable waves, and absolutely no lineup, check out the surf report and when the swell comes, head for Koh Phayam. Don't make it you surf destination, but when you catch it right, you will love it.
