Surfing in the Netherlands« on: January 31 2009 04:01:00 »
Hello, I have recently moved to the Netherlands and am based in EIndhoven. I would like to find out more about the surfing scene here, any tips or advice on finding people to surf with and the best spots to go to would be appreciated.

Well their aint a lot of surfing going on in the waddenzee, maybe their is a couple of waves at one of the islands, your close to terschelling but i would check some forecasts before going..
if you get the chance go to scheveningen or one of the spots near, it aint best spots in the world but for holland its oke..

There are lots of surfspots in the Netherlands, not that consistent. But if you check the weather and search for the weather forecasts regularly you can definitely surf good waves, check www.windguru.com Another variable are the tides. You can check the best tide on the surfspots at www.getij.nl. Spots which you can try are easy to find all along the coastline from the Wadden Islands and the provinces North-Holland, South-Holland and Zealand. Just make a road trip out of it, so you know where the breaks are. Well have fun!

Hello, I'm a Spanish girl living in Utrecht. I tried surfing short time ago and I really liked it, so maybe it would be nice to check some spots together some time!

Hey, also living in Eindhoven (too far inland) and just started surfing NL, used to have some sweet breaks back in the UK. So far I've only surfed scheveningen, was a nice sold foot and half just to get my board balance back, no worries and now need something a bit bigger.
If anyone wants to surf sometime then ping me an email . . :)

I am moving from NZ to Mönchengladbach in Germany end of July. Gonna miss the ocean, but NL is not that far away. Heard about schreveningen...how consistent is the surf there?
In NZ we have surf2surf.co.nz and surf.co.nz to check the surf forecasts....is there anything similar for NL?
Would also be nice to get in touch with some locals over there so please feel free to drop me a line.

Hey I`m looking for people to go surfing with in the summer . I`ll be learning, but my housemate will borrow a surfboard to me, but apparently my friends won`t be available till mid-august so it would be great to find some people to go camping and surfing somewhere with.
Let me know if any of you wants to join :) just have in mind that I have no car and pretty limited $

Mike, I guess surfing in the Netherlands isn't comparing to surfing in NZ, however you can check www.surfholland.nl or surfandbeach.nl, they have a webcam for Scheveningen. I normally don't surf in NL, crowded line ups and cold water. however it's better then nothing and I think you can have nice time anyway.
you should have not only a board but also a wetsuite.
keep stoked and keep surfing!
