Surf on wetscoast of Tonga??« on: January 15 2006 09:01:00 »
I have read in this site people complaining about flat spells and small waves in Tonga since the swell has to wrap around from SW to hit NW facing breaks....What about surfing on wetcoast? With such a exposure of Roaring Forties swells we might be speaking of too much swell..:) And the wind should be still at least cross-offshore. I never been to Tonga. But i would like to have explanation from someone who has....why isn't there anyone surfing on W-SW coast? Or is?

The West to South coast is all sheer cliff and raised reef.
Often spectacular to look at especially the blowholes.
But no surf!!
