This place is a major dive and a hideous eyesore.
The sooner the sea takes it the better.

You're right Sam, the place is a shit-hole. Filthy and full of drunks. It's one of 2 bars along the beautiful beach at Ha'atafu and both bars are run by mormons. Hypocritical bastards. It really is an eye-sore. There are much better places to stay.

The place was run by a real friendly Hawaiin guy in jan 2005, and had no people around whatsoever. If you wanna just hang out and surf this place is awesome. Not for those who are used to many creature comforts tho.

Looked pretty cool when we went and had a look. Its a bit pricey though, like 10 times the price of staying 100m away. Plenty of people, and a good setup with the boats. The guy who runs it is good to the people who stay there but won't help you out at all if not, like sya if you wanted to pay for a boat trip. You're not even allowed on the site.

Short rides, inconsistent swells, inconsistent favourable winds and can be crowded as there are only a few breaks.

Nawai Ali’i is a hell-hole run by three of the biggest crooks in Tonga. I seriously advise anyone against booking in there. They have absolutely no interest in their guests comfort and wellbeing. I was booked into somewhere else but the owners tricked me into believing it was with them. We waited all day for our room to be cleaned but it didn’t happen.
There was no water in the taps and toilet. The people next to us had their room broken into. The manager and staff had not been paid, so many were leaving. Apparently no one has been able to work for the owners for very long. The bar is now open 24 x 7 and the noise from the music, the drunks and the traffic kept us awake all night. The whole area stunk of piss and shit as the toilets didn’t work and the drunks just went wherever.

The kitchen was disgusting and all the cans, bottles and rubbish is either swept onto the beach or dumped into the bush beside the rooms. The place was alive with flies, mosquitos, cockroaches and rats. A bunch of barking dogs slept in the dining area.
Though they advertise surfing, no one there knows anything about where or when to surf. A couple of their day guests had to be dragged out of the heavy rip by local surfers. The woman had been trashed on the reef, had hurt her neck and was bleeding from where she used to have skin on her back.
If you get tricked into paying in advance I seriously doubt you will see your money again and the prices seem to change when you get there anyway.
