Thinking about making a trip to the north shore next summer

I am going into my senior year of highschool, and I am really considering taking a trip to Oahu. I have been surfing for about 2 years now, and absolutely love the sport, and can see it becoming a big part of my life. But onto the subject, I have been surfing for about 2 years, and am fairly confident with my skills for my local spots. (I live in Oregon.) I was wondering where are a few good places are, at about this time of year for intermediate surfers. I am not really comfortable surfing anything over 2 feet overhead, so somewhere with breaks around 5-8 ft? I am going to take a week or 2 long trip so I will have some time to go to a few spots, and get it down.
